It is a place with a long and interesting past, attested by its many Roman vestiges, historic buildings, facades and mosques that colour the Old City Centre. We start our sightseeing tour today in Constanta exploring the Greek and Roman heritage that made the former colony of Tomis famous and we'll try to elicit why the ancient poet Ovid was sent here to pay for his mistakes against the Roman Emperor. We then travel to Mamaia, the beach area of Constanta, where we have a lot of opportunities for lunch or just a light snack before heading deep into the Romanian countryside on our way to what has been called "the Romanian Pompeii", the well preserved ancient Greek and Roman colony of Histria.
