Family Cruises?

Cruises are the prefect holiday for families of all ages. Most of the cruise lines have kids clubs that start from three years of age up. They also have lots of fantastic activities from water parks to rock climbing walls which will keep them occupied while on your holiday. A popular new trend is multi-generational family cruising, there is truly something for every age group on a cruise.

10 Tips for booking a family cruise:

  1. Book well in advance if booking a cruise in school holidays. Most kids clubs have a limited number of places.
  2. Look out for kids sail free specials. MSC Cruise Line offers a great “kids sail free” deal.
  3. Look for a good child’s programs that cater for a range of age groups. Generally cruise lines separate the children into three clubs - 3 to 6 year olds, 7 to 10 year olds, 11 to 17 year olds
  4. Make sure they have child-minding services so parents can enjoy one of the fantastic shows onboard.
  5. Shore excursions that will suit the whole family.
  6. Book triple, quad or inter-connecting cabins so the family can be together. Carnival Cruises have ocean/balcony cabins that inter-connect to inside cabins.
  7. A balcony can provide some welcome privacy for parents when young children are asleep.
  8. Choose the right ship for your family. The Royal Caribbean ships offer rock climbing walls, min-golf and other activities which are fun for the whole family
  9. Involve children and teenagers when choosing a family cruise.
  10. If your children are still in nappies you will not be able to send your child to most kids club. Cunard is one of the few cruise lines that look after children from 12 months old (with nappies). All of their ships have qualified nannies.
